We see Mihael in two different times. In 1972, he is a young man, attending Franz's war trial. We see that members of the Jewish community are split on how they should approach Franz who despite his acts of courage is still tried as a war criminal. We also hear of Mihael's experience after the camp where he joins the resistance and fights for the independence of Slovakia and Czech Republic. In this process, he has the opportunity to get revenge on Franz, but fails to persuade his friend Janek who has experienced Franz's compassion.
